Overview

SkipStep ("the Extension") is a browser extension that allows you to customize the skip step (in seconds) when using keyboard arrow keys to control video playback on any website. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles your information.

Data We Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

The Extension operates entirely on your local device. No information is ever sent to any external server.

Local Storage

The Extension uses Chrome's storage.sync API to save your preferences:

This data is stored locally in your browser (and synced across your own Chrome profile via Google's sync if you have it enabled). It is never accessed by us or any third party.

Permissions

The Extension requests the following permissions:

Permission Why it's needed
storage To save and restore your skip step settings across browser sessions.
tabs To read the hostname of the currently active tab so that per-site settings can be applied. The full URL is only used to extract the hostname; it is never stored or transmitted.
Content script on <all_urls> To listen for arrow key events and apply the skip step to video elements on any page you visit.

Third-Party Services

The Extension does not use any analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or other third-party services.

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
